Well, I guess when it rains, it pours.  We just found out our rent will be going up in February.  I still have no job and no one commissions me .  I hate begging my folks for money and for now my savings are holding up, but that won't last forever.  Ah well, I guess it's time to chalk 2011 as the year I loath the most.  Can't wait for you to be over, your rotten stinking year.

Ja, so I finally moved into the modern era and signed up for tumblr, janeensatone.tumblr.com/
I'm slowly getting the hang of how it works.  If you follow me on facebook (or any of the journals I use), you've already seen the two pictures I loaded thus far, but new sketches are on the way, everyday if I'm the good busy little beaver.

Woot... new journal.  I don't mind it, except auto save keeps flashing in my text field... knock it off, I can't see what I'm typing! ;p  I do not like the gia-normous thumbnail previews on the Daily Deviation page, but there's usually something I'm not overly keen on when the yearly updates hit.  I'll get used to it, I always do.  ...and by the time I've decided I like the change, it'll be a year later and the new updates will be upon us again.  *LOL*

I gave myself brain mash yesterday watching tutorials on Daz Studios.  I'm not sure if we figured out what happened, but it's at least running now without crashing every 15 minutes or so.  I was able to build up some character bases for some of my OCs.  They aren't perfect, but I don't need them to be.  I'm only using it for a posing drawing aid since I can't pin the photographer of the house down and force him to stand for hours on end in some stupidly silly looking pose.  I don't think I'll do much with hair or clothing.  For now.  I'm still tweaking those characters, a height scaling function would be great.  Maybe it's in there and I'm just not seeing it yet.  I still have a few hundred more tutorials to go through.

I downloaded Daz 3D this week after having a wee bit of an issue between their website and my email.  Either Daz's site doesn't like yahoo, or yahoo doesn't like Daz, either way it took two days before I received my confirmation emails.  Sadly, I wish that was the only problem I'm having with them.  Every time I try to use the program, it has a wee bit of fatal error and dies.  I do like the program, what little of it I am able to use before it dies on me.  I just have to wait for a tech to get back to me about the error I submitted.  So it might be a few days before they probably tell me I need a new video card or something.  Or they laugh at me for having Vista.

I haven't done much in the ways of art lately, but I am working on stuff.  Slowly, oooh so very slowly, but I am doing something.  I probably won't upload anything till I have a mountain of pictures, so I'll try to kick my own ass into gear.  Honestly, you'd think being a jobless bum, I'd be drawing from dawn till dusk, but I'm not.  At least I finally got around to buying my copy of Sai, I've only been threatening to do so since April.  I've also just acquired a copy of Daz 3D to play with (after waiting two days to get my email confirmation from their website....grrrrr).  Right now I'm trying my hand at inking other artists pencils, so if you or anyone you know is looking for someone to apply their magic to your pencils, drop me a link and we'll see if I'm magic enough for ya.

I'm still not sure if I'm going to keep all my old art in my gallery, but as I said in my last journal, you have some time before I go on a mass deleting spree. ...or don't. ;p  I am sort of leaning toward dumping everything in an 'ancient' folder and hoping no one will actually look in it.  EVER. ...eeeeh... I don't know.  No one's arguing with me one way or the other, so eh, whatever will happen will happen I suppose.

I'm thinking about clearing everything out of my gallery.  I thought about setting up a new deviant account, but re-watching all the artists I watch or switching between accounts to keep up with everyone seems like too much of a pain.  Fear not, I'll probably do it in January, so if you wish to save copies of the imagines in my gallery, feel free to do so over the next few months.  I may change my mind too, its just a thought going through my head.

I do ask if you save any of my images, you do NOT reload them on other sites.

Curse you Wacom, look what you made me do.  You made me use a less than three for thee!

heh heh heh

Okay, in all seriousness, I'm gleeing all over the place right now since :iconrisvani: posted on facebook about the new Wacom Inkling coming out in September: www.tgdaily.com/hardware-brief…
Seriously, I've been pacing around and bouncing all over the place so badly that any thoughts to actually being artistic are physically impossible because the pages would just come out looking like I drank 10 gallons of coffee, with a few dozen red bull chasers.

Seriously, this is the sort of thing that I have been DREAMING about since I first started using Photoshop.  Even better, I can draw ANYWHERE, and have something inked and Photoshop ready as soon as I'm done hand inking it.  As much as I do love my cintiq, and I am rather proud of my inking on it, I still love traditional hand inking on paper far more - and come on, you gotta love ball point pen, it's just damned fun to draw with anyway.

But alas, I shall be forced to wait on getting one until the day I return to gainful employment (or someone finally starts commissioning me).

On the Mac front... we SHALL be buying one, but we're waiting until January and tax returns.  We sort of ran into a wee bit of a problem this weekend which ended with my lovely significant other storming out, swearing and laughing a little hysterically.

Sometime this weekend we will be looking at Mac desktops - not something I'm looking forward to since I still don't have a job and no one is commissioning me.  We keep having issues with this damned PC and after talking with the 'good' people at Dell, it's just turning into an ugly cycle of pumping more money into the computer without any reliable results.  We're getting sick of having to replace the computer once every three of four years.  I'm honestly afraid to do a lot of things online because I'm pretty sure this damned thing is riddled with spyware and viruses.

We may end to keeping this PC for me to use offline for writing and art - especially since Paint Tool Sai doesn't work on Mac ...unless I find I can do the same sort of things on a newer version of photoshop.  Right now I'm working with Photoshop 6.

If anyone knows of any art programs that work similarly to Paint Tool Sai that work on Mac, please let me know.  The cheaper the better.  We also need to find a place to take our old computers off our hands and programs we can use to completely wipe the memories.

Sha-la-la.

I had intended to return from vacation, fresh and ready to work my little fingers to the bone.  But in less than a week away from home I forgot I'm allergic to summer in southern Minnesota and I've spent the past week trying to tear the skin off my face and rip itchy eyes out of my skull.  It feels like I'm starting to get the accursed summer cold too (but I'm pretty sure it's just part of my allergies).  Today's been the first day that I've been able to see for more than 5 minutes at a time without freezing my eyeballs out with an icepack.  (so naturally instead of picking up my pencil, I hit yee old dA journal - ha ha)

My allergy meds actually work, but I'm terrible about remembering to take them... and even when I do take them, it takes a few days before my body accepts the drugs and allow them to do their job... so I forget that they actually work and don't take them!  Hell, I'm just sitting here right now looking at the box, have I taken one yet?  NO!  Of course not!  *LOL*

yup, I'm a 'tard.
and itchy, itchy 'tard.

I shall try to use this reprieve in itchiness to get back to work (and remember to take my allergy pills).  Maybe I'll even surprise everyone with a drawing today! (er... yaar right, don't hold your breath)

I have discovered the true wonder of Jango since returning home.  My boyfriend's been raving about it for a month or so, so I figured I'd check it out.  Normally I just hunt and pick stuff off Youtube all day.  I love it, finally a radio station that plays music that doesn't make my ears bleed!  Youtube has been great for helping me find bands here and there I would never have found on my own, but within the first few hours with Jango, I've found half a dozen new [to me] bands that I love or bands I completely forgot existed.  They just need to add more classical music and movie score music so I can set up a "writing" station for me to zone out to.

One thing I have found to be a pleasant surprise is the new Within Temptation album, the Unforgiving, isn't as bad as I'd heard.  It's not as good as the last two albums, but to hear the reviews friends had given it I thought it was going to be so terrible it would make my head explode with terrible ...kinda the way former lead singer of Nightwish, Tarja Turunen, solo stuff does.  I just kept putting off looking up anything from it on youtube because I was a little worried (but mostly I just kept forgetting it was even out).  Jango slapped me in the face with it right off the get go and good news, my head didn't explode!

....but I think I shall laugh myself sick.

My boyfriend ran into a woman I used to work with, probably the only person from my former job that I still like.  She informed him that the person they hired to replace me is getting the same treatment they were dishing out to me.  If she's smart, she'll GET OUT NOW!  I'm sure it's making her as much of a bundle of nerves and it was making me.

I know, I'm sorry, its not much of an update.  We will be heading off to our yearly vacation soon and when I return, I shall purchase my copy of SAI and start posting art again.  I don't have any good excuses for why I haven't been drawing or posting art, just been feeling a bit down on myself and what to do next with this shambles I like to call a life.

I have never been a fan DC or Marvel comics fan.  I just never could get into the superhero comics.

The only reason I know anything at all about the DC relaunch is because of friends talking about it or comics like the Gutters.  Even though I was never a fan of those comics, there was a comfort level knowing that the characters were there and that they basically were immortal and unchangeable.  I know Ryan Sohmer's comic mocks and jokes around about things within the comic industry, but today's comics (www.the-gutters.com/comic/149-…) makes me feel disheartened and frustrated by the overhaul.  I knew certain things about the DC universe and figured I'd always know those things about the comics, and now I'm not sure what they are anymore.

Not that I was going to change my mind about reading DC comics, these changes make me even less interested in reading them.  So I guess I'll be even more out of the loop on these things.  ...meh, so what else is new.

On a side note, I suck.  I haven't been drawing much because I got sucked into a lot of silly pointless things (like writing this journal entry ;p).  It's funny how quickly my brain turned to mush when I was left to my own devices for most of the week because my boyfriend was off shooting softball and track up in the Twin Cities.  One would think the lack of distractions would be the perfect opportunity for me to actually WORK.  BUH HA HA HA!

If this doesn't get the creative juices flowing, then I must be dead.

I haven't been drawing much this week.  Mostly I've been writing, preparing to prepare type stuff.  It's the kind of thing that I actually got lost in what I was doing and before I realized  I had done it, I had spent an entire day writing and the sun was going down.

I have a hard time writing to music that has singing in it because it makes me want to sing along.  But epic music by bands like Two Steps from Hell and Immediate Music are mostly symphonic so I can write while listening.... unless I get completely caught up in the music and shut down just to listen (while secretly cursing myself for shunning my parent's music heritage).

My boyfriend set up this playlist on youtube: www.youtube.com/playlist?p=PL2…
Right now it has 142 pieces of movie score sounding music, but he's still adding to it.  So if anyone needs some amazingly epic music to listen to while they draw or write, feel free to follow the link.

I've become the crazy lady who looks out the window all the time, butting into everyone's business!  We have new neighbors that I will probably never go out of my way to meet, but by god, I will stare at them moving in all day long.  The only way to make this worse, is if we were allowed to keep pets in this apartment.  Then I'd be the nosy crazy cat lady in the complex.  AHHHH!

I need commissions people!  I need something to distract me from the activities going on outside my windows!

Since we got the computer up and running again, every other day I have the same fight with my computer.  First off, my tablet is a Wacom cintiq, so when you put the tablet pen to the screen the mouse arrow is supposed to hoover nicely under the tip and follow the pen wherever you move the pen.  But every other day, when I turn on my tablet, I move the pen across the surface of my tablet, and watch the mouse arrow wiggle around on my other computer monitor, not on the tablet screen where it SHOULD be.  The mouse will slide over to my tablet screen, but the pen tool won't go there.  So I happily wander into the control panel and play around with the display settings and if I'm lucky, the pen will behave and go back to working on the tablet surface.  But sometimes I have to restart the computer after mucking about with it.

I'm afraid one of these days it isn't going to right itself after resetting and/or restarting everything.  And now when I try to recalibrate the pen tip, the calibration window won't open on the tablet, but on the other computer monitor.  I'm so angry I want to throw the tablet and the computer at the wall until they brake into little tiny bits.... however, they are spendy and I haven't gone completely insane just yet, so they remain undamaged.  ...for now.

At first we thought the tech did something wrong when he plugged everything back in, but now I'm not so sure.

I hate you computers.  I hate you so much.

Our computer died last Saturday rather unexpectedly.  We have an extended warranty so we didn't have to pay for the repairs, and frankly after the complete amount of bullshit we had to wade through all week long, I'm glad we didn't.  To say I'm angry is a bit of an understatement.  To say I will continue being a Dell computer customer is the real question.

Looks like I might have to recalibrate my tablet, but everything else seems to be okay.  The hard drive wasn't the problem, thank the gods.

CALL ME THE JOBLESS WONDER!

So yeah, anyway, I'm up for freelance work, since I'm ...ya know, unemployed now.

Normally I'd be really upset right now, maybe I'm still numb from the shock, or maybe I just hated that job enough that telling me to sleep in tomorrow morning is a HUGE relief.  Although, I can't say I hated the job itself, it was the LOVELY people I worked with that made me a raging ball of stress.

Anyway, I'm going to treat myself to some morning booze and enjoy the rest of my day.  I guess I'll start job hunting in the morning.
